On Tuesday, 19 June, Year 4 travelled to The Rocks to immerse themselves in the history of the settlement of Sydney. The students participated in a great walking tour of The Rocks. They dazzled the guides with their detailed knowledge of the history of Sydney Cove. They also attended a Sydney Learning Adventure at Merchants House called ‘Children Stepping Back in Time' where they got hands on experience of being a child in early 1800's Sydney. This was fun when they dressed up and played with toys of that time like the children of rich merchants, but not so great when they went down to the basement and had to be servant children!
The Year 4 teachers would like to congratulate the students on their excellent behaviour on our excursion. We were complimented on how well behaved and enthusiastic the students were several times throughout the day by the guides and members of the public. Well done Year 4!
The students all had a great day learning about the Colony while imagining what it would be like to live as a child back then. Maybe you could make a trip into The Rocks with your family one weekend and explore the area even more?
